Crunch Must Have!

Summer is nearly here and trends are high. With the recession, it helps if old clothes can be revived bringing them up to season. Well that is definitely possible with the washed and ripped denim look this Spring Summer.

Dig up some old denim jeans, shorts or skirts, get some bleach and bleach them to your taste, either all over or particular areas. This will definitely give you the washed out look, use a blade to gently fray certain areas of the jeans as required. You will now have the perfect crunched up to date trend.

Fashion Sales Resurrection at John Lewis!

How funny, here I was yesterday telling you about the drop in sales at John Lewis. Well it looks like a lucky star has shined on them. I read on Drapers online that Fashion Sales for the week up to March has reportedly risen 5.7% hooray!

John Lewis Sales Fall !

Sales at Department Store John Lewis have fallen after Sales worsened towards the end of 2008.

With the current recession stinging tails, I can only hope it gets better. John Lewis mentioned in a statement that “We expect trading conditions for 2009 to continue to be very tough, with ongoing pressures on consumer spend and low consumer confidence. As a result, we anticipate that price competition will be as intense as last year and we are prepared to meet these challenges.”

I hope it all ends well.

Fringemania!

As with all Seasons, 2009 Spring promises a variety of trends. One of which is the Fringe. This is certainly a must have for the Spring Summer. The fringe seems to be on any item possible; from bags, boots, sandals, bikini's and necklaces. Celebrities are also sporting the hot trend.

The beauty about this trend is that it works for everyone as there is at least one suitable fringetastic item in stores to suit various tastes and purses.

As a lover of Fashion and a Student, I love to keep up to date with trends. The recession restricts in many ways but my fashion thirst deepens, I just cannot help myself. I do wonder at times if I am addicted to shopping as I tend to go with the motto"Buy now, think later"

Well I could not help it, I had to indulge in the trend myself so I went shopping for my very own fringetastic item. On my way, I came across various shop windows with fringed items, It seemed to be everywhere I looked. That raised my hopes asI knew I was bound to find a reasonably priced fringetastic item of my choice.

In and out of stores Newlook, Primark and Dorothy Perkins, I have my items.

A black suede fringe bag from Newlook at just 15pounds

A pair of brown fringed sandals from Primark for six pounds. What a bargain!

No good news

Hey all, I have been thinking for the past few days whether there would be any shops left at this rate. The recession crisis is taking major stores downhill rapidly one after the other, no stores safety is guaranteed. Someone please stop this crisis, where would I shop if all the shops are gone, I dread the thought aargh!

I mentioned on Wednesday that former Mosaic turned Aurora stores Karen Millen, Oasis, Coast and Warehouse were rescued from the recession pit; Principles and Shoe Studio were not so fortunate.

Shoe Studio was sold to Dune and Principles remains unlucky.

Debenhams is to take over most of Principles standalone shop stock and that of its 121 concessions within Debenhams Department Stores.
Lee Manning the administrator of Deloitte said: Unfortunately there will be significant redundancies over the coming weeks."

This is terrible, I feel awful about the amount of people whose lives and careers have been put in jeopardy by the sting of the recession. I should thank my stars that I am safe for now (fingers crossed) as I could have been in the same boat.
